Hernandez and Rodrigues set to headline UFC's return to Sacramento on August 22
Anthony Hernandez and Gregory Rodrigues will meet in a middleweight main event at UFC Sacramento on August 22. Hernandez looks to rebound after being stopped by Sean Strickland, while Rodrigues rides a three-fight winning streak into the headliner.
Anthony Hernandez and Gregory Rodrigues will clash in the middleweight main event of UFC Sacramento on August 22, multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans have confirmed.
Hernandez enters the bout looking to rebuild momentum after his eight-fight winning streak was brought to a halt earlier this year. Known as “Fluffy”, he faced then-challenger Sean Strickland — now the middleweight champion — in the main event of UFC Houston in February, where he was stopped by strikes in the third round. Before that setback, Hernandez had strung together eight consecutive victories, six of which came by finish.
Rodrigues, meanwhile, arrives on the back of three straight wins and will be hoping to fare better than his last headline appearance. “Robocop” was stopped by Jared Cannonier in the main event of UFC Vegas 102 in February 2025, but has since responded emphatically, earning a pair of Performance of the Night bonuses with first-round knockouts among his recent victories.
The Sacramento booking was first reported by Instagram account Connected MMA.
