Genesio Rejects Paris FC, Marseille Remains Frontrunner to Sign Him
Free since leaving LOSC, Bruno Genesio has turned down Paris FC's advances as the newly promoted Ligue 1 club seeks a successor to Kombouaré. Olympique de Marseille remains the leading contender, with a two-year deal reportedly already agreed.
Bruno Genesio has rebuffed Paris FC’s approaches, the newly promoted Ligue 1 club exploring alternative options after failing to reach an agreement with incumbent manager Antoine Kombouaré. Discussions with the former LOSC coach came to nothing, as Genesio has other projects in mind.
Free since the end of last season, Genesio ranks among the most sought-after French managers at present. Olympique de Marseille is leading the race: according to La Provence, a two-year contract, with an optional third season, has reportedly already been agreed with the club’s new leadership. Official confirmation remains pending verdicts from the National Financial Control Board (DNCG) and UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body (ICFC), which are examining the club’s financial situation.
At Paris FC, the situation remains deadlocked. The Paris club is offering Kombouaré only a one-season extension, while the Kanak coach is demanding a contract running through June 2028. Pending a resolution, PFC has also sounded out Liam Rosenior, the former Strasbourg manager whose spell at Chelsea ended quickly.
Genesio, meanwhile, appears to have made his priority choice. Marseille, despite ongoing institutional and financial challenges, remains the most likely destination for the former Lyon and Rennes manager.
