Alejandro Garnacho’s social media activity is fuelling speculation about his future at Chelsea, after the 21-year-old Argentine winger reposted a TikTok featuring the line-up from Manchester United’s 2024 FA Cup final victory — a match he played a significant role in — despite having left Old Trafford for Stamford Bridge last summer in a £40 million deal.

Garnacho’s TikTok account, which has 6.2 million followers, remains dominated by content from his time at United. There is no Chelsea-related material on his main feed, though he has reposted a handful of videos showing him in a Blues shirt. His latest reshare — a graphic of the FA Cup final starting XI displayed in flags — caught the attention of fans, who were quick to read meaning into the timing.

In the replies to posts about the video on X, reactions ranged from sympathetic to pointed. “He misses home,” wrote one user. Another added: “Dude wants to come back to Man Utd by all means.” A third noted: “He’s really missing the good old days,” while a fourth simply asked: “What’s he trying to do?”

Not everyone was receptive to the idea of a return. “No take backsies. Bye bye,” one fan wrote sarcastically, while another referenced the circumstances of his departure: “The team he thought he was too good for.”

That bitterness traces back to Garnacho’s public comments following United’s 1-0 Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last May, when he was used as a substitute for just 20 minutes. “Our season was s***,” he told reporters afterwards. “We didn’t beat anyone in the league. We lacked a lot of things. Until we reached the final, I played every round — and I played 20 minutes today. I don’t know.”

The outburst, combined with a 15th-place Premier League finish under Ruben Amorim, effectively ended his time at the club. His move to Chelsea followed shortly after.

Life in west London has not been straightforward. Garnacho has managed just one Premier League goal and four assists since his arrival, making 14 starts across the season as Pedro Neto has largely taken precedence in the wide positions. Whether his TikTok habits reflect genuine discontent or simply an attachment to a formative chapter of his career, the speculation they have generated is unlikely to go away.
