Ferran Torres extends Barcelona contract after 21-goal season under Flick
FC Barcelona has decided to offer Ferran Torres a contract extension, with his current deal running until June 2027. The Spanish forward, who scored 21 goals and provided 3 assists in 49 matches this season, has fully convinced Hansi Flick.
FC Barcelona will offer Ferran Torres a contract extension, according to Mundo Deportivo. The Spanish forward, tied to the club until June 30, 2027, would be offered three to four additional years, a decision motivated by his remarkable rise under Hansi Flick.
Torres has delivered one of his best seasons in his career, compiling 21 goals and 3 assists in 49 matches across all competitions with Barcelona. Figures that have fully convinced the German manager, who has started him more often than Robert Lewandowski — a scenario difficult to anticipate at the start of the season.
While the current contract does not expire for two years, the Catalan club intends to get ahead to avoid any uncertainty. Torres’ versatility, capable of playing on both wings as well as through the middle, is a valuable asset in Flick’s system.
This decision comes in a context of offensive reconstruction. The departure of Lewandowski, now free to join any club, and the non-purchase of Marcus Rashford leave gaps to fill in attack. The signing of Anthony Gordon is not enough, according to Barcelona’s management, to compensate for these absences. Blaugrana are exploring other options, notably from Atlético Madrid and their striker Julián Álvarez, even if the Madrid club does not seem willing to let their Argentine forward leave.
In this context, Torres’ extension represents a strong signal: Barcelona intends to build its attack around a player trained at Valencia, who passed through Manchester City, and who has seized his chance when the club needed it most.
