Gary McAllister has urged Liverpool to re-sign Harry Wilson on a free transfer, four years after Jurgen Klopp sold the Wales international to Fulham, as the club searches for a right-sided forward to replace Mohamed Salah.

Wilson, 29, enjoyed his most productive Premier League season to date in 2025-26, registering 10 goals and seven assists across 37 appearances for Fulham. With his contract set to expire at the end of the month, he is expected to be among the most coveted free agents available this summer.

“Without a shadow of a doubt, Harry is a top-end Premier League player now,” McAllister told the Liverpool Echo. “He has been on the international stage for his country as well, and he’s been fantastic there. I’m really pleased for him because he’s a very hard worker.”

McAllister, who has worked in various capacities at Anfield, pointed to Wilson’s technical profile as a natural fit for the club’s system. “He’s been coached in the Liverpool way, and he always caught the eye when you were around Anfield,” he said. “With his passing range, his ability to get a goal, and his work rate, he’s becoming a very complete player. Liverpool should be one of them” — referring to the clubs expected to pursue Wilson.

Wilson was part of Liverpool’s academy and senior setup from 2005 to 2022 but made only two first-team appearances for the club, spending the majority of that period out on loan. His final temporary spell came at Fulham during the 2021-22 season, after which the Cottagers signed him permanently.

Despite McAllister’s endorsement, there is currently no indication that Liverpool are actively pursuing a return for Wilson. The winger is instead being strongly linked with Tottenham and Aston Villa. Spurs, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, have already agreed deals for Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi, and have submitted a bid for Brighton defender Jan Paul Van Hecke — a player also connected with Liverpool.
