England fans received widespread praise from both UK and American law enforcement following Tuesday’s goalless World Cup group-stage draw with Ghana at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, with authorities confirming no incidents or arrests of British nationals on matchday.

Chief Constable Mark Roberts, the National Police Chiefs’ Council lead for football policing, described the supporters’ conduct as “excellent”, noting it mirrored the positive scenes from England’s earlier fixture in Dallas. Foxborough Police Chief Grace went further, calling the fans’ behaviour “exemplary”, while Roberts praised the collaborative working relationship with US counterparts as “firm but fair”.

Around 30,000 England supporters made the trip to Foxborough, contributing to an overall crowd of more than 63,000 inside the stadium. Local bar owners and authorities in Boston also singled out Scotland fans for praise following their presence in the city for Group C matches against Haiti and Morocco.

On the pitch, England struggled to break down a disciplined Ghana side ranked 65th in the world, with Harry Kane spurning the clearest opportunity of the match — blazing a late chance over the crossbar. Manager Thomas Tuchel acknowledged the miss, saying Kane would normally convert that situation “99 times out of 100”.

Frustrated England supporters made their feelings known at full-time, chanting “Do you know how much we’ve spent” as rain fell across the stadium. Among those in attendance were several players’ partners, including Jordan Pickford’s wife Megan and their son, and Bukayo Saka’s fiancée Tolami Benson.

As things stand, England sit top of Group L and remain on course to qualify for the knockout stages, with their final group match against Panama to come on Saturday. Scotland, third in Group C, are also still in contention ahead of their concluding fixture against Brazil. Should both nations advance, they could meet in the last 16 in Mexico City on 6 July.
