EFL fixtures release date confirmed for Championship, League One and League Two
The EFL has confirmed all three divisions' 2026/27 fixtures will be released simultaneously at 12pm on Thursday, June 25, alongside the Carabao Cup first-round draw and Vertu Trophy group-stage draw.
The English Football League has confirmed that Championship, League One and League Two clubs will discover their 2026/27 schedules on Thursday, June 25, with all three divisions’ fixtures released simultaneously at 12pm. Fans will be able to view the complete 46-matchday roadmaps via club websites and official EFL channels.
The fixture release follows the Premier League’s own schedule announcement and arrives alongside two cup draws on the same day: the Carabao Cup first round and the Vertu Trophy group stages are both set to be conducted on June 25.
The 2026/27 EFL campaign gets underway with the Carabao Cup first round over the weekend of August 7–10, with a preliminary round for select lower-division sides taking place slightly earlier on August 1–3. The opening round of league fixtures across all three EFL divisions is scheduled for August 14–17, a week before the Premier League kicks off.
The new season also brings a significant structural change to the Championship play-offs. The format expands from four teams to six, with the sides finishing third and fourth receiving a bye to the semi-finals. Teams finishing fifth through eighth will contest one-legged quarter-final ties — fifth hosting eighth, and sixth hosting seventh — before the competition reverts to its traditional two-legged semi-final format.
