Pascal Dupraz used to leave PSG matches before the final whistle. Today, the former manager of Toulouse, Saint-Étienne and Dijon admits he doesn’t miss a moment — and he credits Luis Enrique for the change.

Interviewed this week on the occasion of his book release The Privilege of Passion – Leadership Lessons from a Rebel, Dupraz offered a frank analysis of the transformation of the Parisian club. “Paris Saint-Germain today, it’s still individuals playing, but serving the collective. That wasn’t the case a few years ago. It prevented them from winning titles at European level. PSG’s transformation in terms of philosophy is absolutely remarkable,” he said.

The former coach, who has not held a position since Dijon in 2023, illustrated his point with a personal admission: “I never watched a PSG match, the Mbappé version and so on, through to the end. Because it wasn’t the expression of the collective as I had learned it. But today, I don’t miss a moment of PSG matches, because the collective is omnipresent.”

Dupraz also made sure to extend credit beyond the Spanish manager alone. “I think they owe it to their managers — with an ‘s’, because there are several managers. There’s Luis Enrique, but there’s perhaps also the president.”

This testimony comes in a context of unprecedented sporting achievement for PSG, back-to-back holders of the Champions League title — a competition the club had never won before the Luis Enrique era.
