Dunkerque upsets Saint-Étienne and ends Greens' five-game winning streak

Saint-Étienne conceded their first defeat of the season on Saturday at Dunkerque (2-1) in matchday 6 of Ligue 2. The Greens, who had won their first five matches, crumbled in the second half despite taking a favorable lead.

Boakye had given ASSE the advantage just before half-time (43rd minute), suggesting a sixth consecutive victory for Ian Cathro’s side. But the northern club reversed the situation in the space of six minutes: Ayari equalized in the 51st minute, before Keita gave Dunkerque the decisive advantage in the 57th minute.

Despite this setback, Saint-Étienne retain top spot with a three-point lead over Reims and four over Montpellier. Dunkerque, meanwhile, climb to seventh place, seven points behind the summit.

For Saint-Étienne, Larsonneur was in goal behind a defense comprising Pedro, Le Cardinal, Naïr and Bernauer. The midfield lined up Boakye, Csongvai, Svetlin and Davitashvili, with Cardona and Ballo up front. Dunkerque played in a 4-4-2 formation under A. Sánchez Saura, with Ramos in goal and the Ayari-Keita duo in attack.
