Thuram and Thauvin set to rejoin France squad in Zidane's next selection
With Dembélé and Saliba unavailable, Zinedine Zidane is expected to recall Marcus Thuram and Florian Thauvin for France's UEFA Nations League matches against Italy (November 12) and Turkey, according to Téléfoot.
Marcus Thuram and Florian Thauvin could feature in Zinedine Zidane’s next squad list, announced Friday, for France’s final two UEFA Nations League group matches: France-Italy on November 12, followed by France-Turkey three days later. The information comes from journalist Saber Desfarges, citing sources close to the national team.
The confirmed absences of Ousmane Dembélé and William Saliba are forcing the manager to expand his group. According to the same sources, Aurélien Tchouaméni, an undisputed starter at Real Madrid, and Ibrahima Konaté are also expected to be called up. Warren Zaïre-Emery, ruled out of the first gathering through injury, is also anticipated, in a midfield role.
Thuram stands out as the most logical recall. Regularly decisive with Inter Milan since the start of the season, the striker offers Zidane valuable versatility: capable of playing centrally or pushing into the flanks, he brings game volume and physical impact.
Thauvin’s return would be more surprising. Since joining RC Lens in summer 2025, the right winger has rediscovered proven effectiveness after several seasons on the sidelines. His left foot, his one-on-one comfort and his precision in the final third make him a credible tactical option on the right flank, as a quality backup capable of making an impact late in matches.
By betting on in-form players rather than established names, Zidane confirms the direction sketched out during his first gathering in September: club form takes priority over established hierarchy.
