Yan Diomande’s agency Roc Nation is actively pushing RB Leipzig to accept Liverpool’s €100m (£86.7m) proposal for the 19-year-old Ivorian winger, according to German outlet Bild. Leipzig have so far rejected the offer, reportedly holding out for a package closer to €120m (£104.1m) before sanctioning the sale of one of their most prized assets.

The transfer saga has been running since before Andoni Iraola’s appointment as Liverpool manager, and the new head coach now finds himself navigating a complicated pursuit. Diomande is currently representing Ivory Coast at the World Cup 2026, where his performances have only heightened interest from rival clubs.

PSG remain a significant obstacle. Diomande has made little secret of his admiration for the French champions, saying: “Paris Saint-Germain is a team I’ve loved since I was a child. My father supports Paris Saint-Germain, and it’s a team I admire as a football fan. It would be a pleasure for me to come and play at Paris with one of the biggest clubs.” The Champions League holders are understood to be actively pursuing the winger alongside Liverpool.

Iraola has already moved quickly in the transfer market since taking charge at Anfield, securing the signing of Victor Munoz. Jeremy Jacquet, whose £55m deal was agreed under predecessor Arne Slot, will also join the squad ahead of pre-season in July. Diomande would represent a significantly larger outlay and a more contested acquisition.

Meanwhile, Cody Gakpo has used the World Cup to answer critics who questioned his form during a difficult club season. The Dutch winger scored twice and added an assist in the Netherlands’ 5-1 demolition of Sweden in their second group game, taking his tally to five goals across his last two World Cup tournaments. Asked about the difference between his roles at club and international level, Gakpo hinted at greater freedom with the national team compared to his position under Liverpool’s system — a comment that is likely to draw attention from Iraola as he shapes his squad for the season ahead.
