Le Havre AC officially announced on Friday the appointment of Demba Ba as sporting director, replacing Mathieu Bodmer, who departed at the end of last season. The former Senegalese international (41 years old) is thus returning to the city where he spent his childhood.
Ba makes this transition after two seasons at Dunkerque in Ligue 2, where he began his move into management roles in 2023. It is precisely this work carried out in Normandy that convinced Le Havre’s leadership to entrust him with the sporting reins of the club.
On the pitch, the striker made an impression in England in particular, playing for West Ham, Newcastle and Chelsea, before joining Besiktas in Turkey and Hoffenheim in Germany during a well-filled international career.
Le Havre AC, which competes in Ligue 1, justified this choice by evoking Ba’s “builder’s spirit” and the club’s desire to “continue to grow” the institution and “allow it to establish itself” in the elite of French football.
