De Gea asks how many Premier League titles he has won after Man City found guilty on 114 charges

David de Gea has publicly raised the question of what Manchester City’s guilt on 114 of 115 Premier League financial charges means for his own honours tally, posting a pointed message on X as the footballing world digested the verdict. The former Manchester United goalkeeper, who won the Premier League with United in 2013 and finished runner-up to City in 2012, 2018 and 2021, wrote: “So…… Let’s talk. How many Premier League titles have I won then?”

City were found guilty of all but one of 115 charges relating to alleged financial breaches between 2009 and 2018. The club, which has consistently denied any wrongdoing since the charges were brought by the Premier League in 2023, said in a statement that “significant elements” of the process remain ongoing and subject to strict confidentiality. Any sanctions have yet to be determined, meaning the full implications for City’s trophy record remain unclear.

De Gea, 35, spent 12 years at Old Trafford, making 545 appearances and winning the FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League and Premier League before departing. After a year out of the game, he signed for Fiorentina in 2024 and remains first choice for the Italian club.

Separately, Manchester United have completed the signing of 16-year-old midfielder David Eze from City. The teenager has agreed a deal that includes a pre-professional contract, which will convert to professional terms when he turns 17. Eze arrives at Old Trafford just days after fellow City youngster Karrim Cassim made the same cross-city switch.

In a club statement, United confirmed: “Talented youngster David Eze has joined Manchester United. The central midfielder has joined the club after leaving Manchester City.”

United, managed by Michael Carrick, do not return to competitive action until 10 October following the international break.
