David Beckham to receive Hollywood Walk of Fame star ahead of 2026 World Cup
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has confirmed Beckham will be honoured at a ceremony on Friday, June 12, at 6819 Hollywood Boulevard, receiving the Walk of Fame's 2,849th star. Tom Cruise and Victoria Beckham will speak at the event.
David Beckham will be inducted onto the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, June 12, at a ceremony at 6819 Hollywood Boulevard, where the former England captain will receive the walk’s 2,849th star in the Sports Entertainment category. Actor Tom Cruise and Beckham’s wife Victoria are confirmed speakers at the event.
Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez cited Beckham’s role in raising football’s profile in the United States as a key reason for the timing of the honour. “Beckham’s recognition with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in the Sports Entertainment category comes at a fitting moment as the United States prepares to host the FIFA World Cup,” Martinez said. “His lasting influence on sports, entertainment, and global culture make this honour especially meaningful.”
The ceremony falls weeks before the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup kicks off across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Beckham’s playing career spanned two decades and made him the first English footballer to win league titles in four different countries — England, Spain, the United States, and France. Since retiring, he has built a significant presence in American football: in 2018 he became co-owner of MLS club Inter Miami, which claimed its first MLS Cup last year.
Beyond the sport, Beckham has maintained a long-standing commitment to humanitarian work, serving as a Unicef goodwill ambassador since 2005. Last year, he was awarded a knighthood for his services to sport and charity.
