Aidan White and Will Carter, the son and nephew of UFC president Dana White, have pulled back the curtain on Martial War, their debut manga project, during an appearance at New York Comic Con.

The two are collaborating with Hiroyuki Takei, the legendary Japanese artist best known for creating the long-running manga series Shaman King, with art assistance provided by Jet Kusamura. The project is being published under Dark Horse Comics, one of the most prominent independent comic publishers in North America.

Martial War draws on the world of combat sports for its subject matter, making it a natural extension of the White family’s deep roots in MMA. Aidan White and Will Carter discussed the project with host José Youngs on the MMA Fighting podcast Anything But Fighting, offering fans their most detailed look yet at what the manga will involve.

The involvement of Takei lends the project significant credibility within manga circles. Shaman King, which he created in 1998, ran for years in Weekly Shōnen Jump and was adapted into multiple anime series, cementing Takei’s reputation as one of the genre’s established voices.

Few details beyond the creative team and publisher have been confirmed at this stage, but the Comic Con appearance signals that Martial War is moving closer to a formal release.
