Cucurella joins Real Madrid for €60m despite Barcelona and Atlético rumours
Real Madrid officially confirmed on Monday the transfer of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea. The Spanish left-back, who had been linked with Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, has signed until 2032 for approximately €60 million.
Real Madrid officially confirmed on Monday the transfer of Marc Cucurella, Chelsea’s left-back, making him the fourth signing of the summer transfer window for the Madrid club and the first to be officially confirmed by the club.
Casa Blanca indicated in a statement that it had “reached an agreement” with Chelsea for the transfer of the 27-year-old Spanish international, who has committed “for the next six seasons, until 30 June 2032”. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the deal is worth €55 million, with up to €5 million in bonuses.
The transfer is one of the surprises of this early summer window. Cucurella had indeed been regularly linked with FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid in recent weeks, before Real Madrid ultimately won the race for his signature.
The defender is currently in the United States with the Spanish national team, where he is participating in the 2026 World Cup. He will join Madrid after the tournament.
With this signing, Real Madrid continues to build a deeply revamped squad. Several Spanish and European media outlets are also reporting that the arrivals of Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konaté and Bernardo Silva are virtually done deals, although these three transfers have not yet been officially confirmed by the club.
