Covington dismisses Garry after UFC 330 loss and writes off Nickal following wrestling defeat

Colby Covington has delivered blunt verdicts on Ian Garry and Bo Nickal, using a Submission Radio interview to pile on both fighters following recent high-profile defeats.

Covington addressed Garry’s failed welterweight title challenge against Islam Makhachev at UFC 330, offering little sympathy for the Irishman. While he claimed not to have followed the fight closely, he did not hold back when given the opportunity to comment. “The world got to see that he was exposed,” Covington said, adding that he has little interest in a potential wrestling or grappling match with Garry. “I don’t know if I want to roll around with this guy.”

The former UFC interim welterweight champion then turned his attention to Bo Nickal, whose unbeaten wrestling reputation took a hit after a decision loss to Max McEnelly at Real American Freestyle 12. Covington argued the defeat has stripped away the mystique that had built up around the UFC middleweight contender.

“He talked a big game, but look what happens every time he’s on the world stage,” Covington said. “He comes up short. He’s not undefeated. The mystique, the scary guy that they tried to build up to be this killer — it’s not there anymore.”

Covington, who had previously been linked to a potential wrestling match with Nickal, made clear that the loss to McEnelly has ended any interest he had in pursuing that contest. The comments reflect a broader pattern from “Chaos”, who has built much of his public profile on provocative assessments of rivals and contemporaries.

For Garry, the UFC 330 defeat represented a significant setback in his push toward welterweight title contention, while Nickal’s loss at RAF 12 raised questions about how his wrestling credentials translate against elite competition outside the UFC cage.
