Chelsea ready to sell Garnacho after one season and just one Premier League goal

Chelsea are willing to listen to offers for Alejandro Garnacho this summer, less than 12 months after paying Manchester United £40 million for the Argentine winger. The 21-year-old started only 14 Premier League games under three different managers and scored once.

Chelsea are prepared to sell Alejandro Garnacho this summer after the £40 million winger managed just one Premier League goal in his debut season at Stamford Bridge, according to the Daily Mail.

The Argentine joined from Manchester United last year, convinced that Chelsea represented the ideal platform to revive a career that had stalled under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford. Instead, he found himself in a similar predicament in west London, starting only 14 league games as successive managers Enzo Maresca, Liam Rosenior, and Calum McFarlane all preferred other options in the final third.

With Xabi Alonso now taking charge as Chelsea’s fourth permanent manager since 2022, the club are willing to cut their losses on the 21-year-old rather than carry a player who has failed to establish himself as a regular starter.

Garnacho is not the only forward facing an uncertain future at the club. Liam Delap, signed from Ipswich last summer, also appears to have lost the backing of the hierarchy after a season disrupted by injury and limited impact when fit. Nicolas Jackson will return from his loan spell at Bayern Munich but is expected to be sold again, with Joao Pedro having arrived to fill his role. Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen and defender Axel Disasi are also among the likely departures.

Not every recent signing is earmarked for the exit. Jamie Gittens, who arrived from Borussia Dortmund last summer, struggled for consistency but the club intend to give the winger more time to prove himself. Geovany Quenda, signed from Sporting Lisbon in March 2025, will complete his move to London this summer and is expected to feature in Alonso’s plans.

Chelsea will also look to hold on to Enzo Fernandez despite the midfielder publicly expressing interest in a move to Real Madrid. The club finished tenth in the Premier League last season, losing seven of their final ten games — a record that underlines the scale of the rebuild Alonso has inherited.
