Cejudo makes Misfits Boxing debut against Walton as Ferguson defends middleweight title in Miami

Former two-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo made his Misfits Boxing promotional debut at the James L. Knight Center in Miami on Saturday, headlining a card that also featured fellow ex-UFC titleholder Tony Ferguson.

Cejudo’s crossover appearance comes less than ten months after he retired from the UFC following a unanimous decision loss to Payton Talbott at UFC 323 this past December. In the intervening period, he has stayed active in professional wrestling promotion RAF, going 2-1 across three bouts — most notably recording a 36-second pinfall win over Merab Dvalishvili at RAF 12 in August.

His opponent, Wanna Walton, stepped in on short notice to replace Deen the Great. The 20-year-old enters the bout with a 3-0-1 boxing record, his most recent outing a decision victory roughly a year ago at an MVP Prospects Series event.

In the co-main event, former interim UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson put his Misfits middleweight title on the line against Mahmoud Sebie. Ferguson, who held the interim 155-pound belt during his celebrated run in the UFC, has reinvented himself on the Misfits circuit since departing the promotion.
