Ferguson blasts Misfits Boxing chaos at press conference: 'You guys are f*cking up'

Tony Ferguson used a microphone at Thursday’s Misfits Boxing press conference in Miami to dress down his fellow fighters, telling them their chaotic behaviour was an embarrassment — just two days before he defends his Misfits middleweight title against short-notice opponent Mahmoud Sebie.

As near-brawls broke out, trash talk flew, and one boxer reportedly stole his opponent’s girlfriend during the event, the former UFC lightweight title contender had seen enough. “What I do is I represent myself very well,” Ferguson said. “I go out there, I don’t have to be an influencer and cause all this bullshit. My kids had to walk out because you guys are fcking up. You guys want to do this for views and stuff? Imagine your kids later on watching this shit. That’s the fcked up part.”

Influencer Dad — who is scheduled to face Cherdleys on the same card — attempted to defuse the moment by asking Ferguson if the remarks were directed at him. Ferguson confirmed they were, and added a pointed aside: “I’m going to kick your ass afterwards, too. Seriously, you’re not going to give a f*ck. I don’t care. Look, these guys that are watching your stuff are going to be the ones leading the country.”

Ferguson, who is competing in his third Misfits Boxing event, drew a sharp contrast between the promotion’s press conference culture and the one he experienced during his long tenure in the UFC. “I was just sharing with Henry we never see this stuff in the UFC or anywhere else,” he said. “I had my headphone in listening to some good music and saying my prayers over here, I think I was saying the rosary too. I was saying a prayer for everybody here to kind of find some peace, but other than that, I’m here to fight. I’m here to box.”

The Henry he referenced is former two-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo, who headlines Saturday’s Miami event against Wanna Walton in his own Misfits Boxing debut — making it a card that features two of the most decorated fighters in recent UFC history alongside the influencer-boxing circuit’s usual cast.
