Hernandez steps in on two days' notice and outweighs Dumas by seven pounds at UFC Vegas 121

Luis Hernandez will carry a significant size advantage into his short-notice light heavyweight clash with Sedriques Dumas at UFC Vegas 121 in Las Vegas on Saturday, after the two men weighed in at 204 and 197 pounds respectively on Friday morning.

The bout came together only on Thursday when Mickey Gall withdrew from the event. Dumas had been scheduled to face Gall in a middleweight contest, but with Hernandez stepping in at short notice, the fight was renegotiated at 205 pounds. Hernandez made the most of the extra room, coming in just one pound under the light heavyweight limit, while Dumas — originally preparing for a lower weight class — weighed in seven pounds lighter.

The main event of the evening pairs two rising bantamweight contenders in Raul Rosas Jr. and Raoni Barcelos, each making their first appearance in a UFC headlining slot. Both men made weight without issue: Rosas came in at 136 pounds, using the one-pound allowance permitted for non-title bouts, while Barcelos hit the championship mark of 135 pounds.

In the co-main event, fourth-ranked women’s bantamweight Norma Dumont faces fifth-ranked Ailin Perez in a matchup that could shake up the divisional standings. Both fighters weighed in at the 136-pound limit.

All 22 fighters on the card made weight, with one exception: John Castaneda came in a half-pound over on his first attempt but successfully hit the 136-pound mark on a second try.
