Carrick greenlights record £10m Amazon documentary Amorim had blocked at Man Utd
Manchester United have agreed a deal worth more than £10 million for an Amazon Prime All or Nothing series, believed to be the largest fee ever paid for a football club documentary. New manager Michael Carrick approved the project after predecessor Ruben Amorim shelved it over concerns about dressing-room cameras.
Manchester United have struck a record-breaking deal worth more than £10 million with Amazon for an All or Nothing documentary series, with new manager Michael Carrick giving the project his full backing after predecessor Ruben Amorim had blocked it.
Club insiders told the Manchester Evening News the fee is believed to be the largest ever paid for a documentary following a professional football club, surpassing amounts agreed for previous All or Nothing series featuring Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City. Cameras are set to start rolling this summer, with the series covering Carrick’s first full season in charge at Old Trafford during the 2026-27 campaign.
Negotiations between United and Amazon first began towards the end of the 2024-25 season, but Amorim raised reservations about the project before his departure, reportedly concerned that the presence of cameras in the dressing room and on the training pitch would distract his players from performance on the pitch. Former United manager José Mourinho voiced similar misgivings after participating in All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur during the 2019-20 season. “If you ask me [is it] something that I enjoy, no. I don’t like the feeling of being in Big Brother,” Mourinho said at the time.
Carrick, who signed a permanent contract last month after guiding United to a third-place Premier League finish and a return to the Champions League for the first time since 2023, has taken a markedly different view of the project.
United’s chief communications officer Toby Craig said the timing was right to open the club’s doors to a global audience. “This documentary will showcase Manchester United’s unique people, ambition and culture; from the iconic atmosphere at Old Trafford to the work that goes on behind the scenes at Carrington,” Craig said. “We will share some of the stories of this historic club with our fans and new audiences around the world as we compete at the highest level, both domestically and in the Champions League.”
The series is expected to land on Amazon Prime Video in the summer of 2028, following the conclusion of the 2026-27 season.
