Michael Carrick has sanctioned a record-breaking documentary deal that Ruben Amorim rejected, with Manchester United agreeing terms worth in excess of £10 million for an Amazon Prime All or Nothing series covering the 2026-27 season.

Club sources told the Manchester Evening News the fee is believed to be the largest ever paid for a documentary following a professional football club, surpassing the sums received by Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City for their own editions of the series. Filming is scheduled to begin this summer and the finished programme will be released on Amazon Prime Video next summer.

Talks between United and Amazon first surfaced towards the end of the 2024-25 campaign, but Amorim moved quickly to shut them down. The Portuguese coach reportedly feared that cameras in the dressing room and on the training ground would distract his players. His concerns echoed those of José Mourinho, who took part in All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur during the 2019-20 season and later admitted he disliked “the feeling of being in Big Brother.”

Carrick’s willingness to proceed marks a clear departure from his predecessor’s approach. The former United midfielder signed a permanent contract last month after steering the club to a third-place Premier League finish and a return to the Champions League for the first time since 2023.

United’s chief communications officer Toby Craig framed the project as an opportunity to reach supporters worldwide. “Now is the right time to open our doors, so that for the first time our fans around the world can see behind the scenes of a club which means so much to so many people,” Craig said. “This documentary will showcase Manchester United’s unique people, ambition and culture; from the iconic atmosphere at Old Trafford to the work that goes on behind the scenes at Carrington.”

The series promises viewers an “unprecedented” behind-the-scenes look at Carrick’s first full season in charge, covering United’s domestic campaign as well as their return to Champions League football.
