Burn dons Stetson and cowboy boots for Ella Langley gig with Kane during World Cup downtime
Newcastle defender Dan Burn embraced the Texas spirit by wearing a cowboy hat and boots to an Ella Langley country music concert alongside Harry Kane and goalkeeper Jason Steele, after England were given a day off following their 4-2 win over Croatia.
Dan Burn traded his football boots for cowboy boots and a Stetson to attend an Ella Langley country music concert in Dallas alongside England teammates Harry Kane and reserve goalkeeper Jason Steele, during a day off granted by manager Thomas Tuchel after England’s 4-2 victory over Croatia at the 2026 World Cup.
The towering Newcastle defender admitted he went all-in on the Western theme. “I like country music, so I put on the cowboy hat and boots,” Burn said. “I got kitted out — I thought if you are going to do it, then do it properly. So it was a good night and today it was back to the football.”
Burn was reportedly hard to miss at the venue. A source quipped: “Dan was hard to miss in a Stetson. He was about 7ft tall.” Langley, whose single ‘Choosin’ Texas’ currently sits at number two on Spotify USA, met Kane and Steele before the show, though Burn arrived too late to be introduced. The group also had to leave before the final songs to make curfew.
Kane’s attendance was apparently inspired by the music already playing back at the team hotel. “Harry put some country and western on, so he wanted to come along,” Burn explained.
The outing came as part of a broader period of downtime for the England squad, which also included a baseball game and a friends and family day. Burn’s wife and children flew in from Dallas to spend time with him, though the defender acknowledged the squad would miss their families on Father’s Day.
“My kids are aged seven and five, so they are more gutted that they did not go to school,” he joked. “Not being around the kids for Father’s Day will be strange but what an experience for them. They see all these cities in the States and see all these teams play — they will get a lot more out of that than they will from school.”
Burn was also effusive about the AT&T Stadium in Dallas following England’s opening win. “Singing Wonderwall with the fans was an amazing moment for me,” he said. “I think that is the best stadium that I have ever played in. It was not just for me — I knew that my family was watching and going through that experience at the same time as me.”
The defender also praised Tuchel’s straightforward management style, noting the German told him candidly when he was called up that he would not be a guaranteed starter — a level of honesty Burn said he respected.
