Manchester City bid farewell to four players on June 30 as their contracts reach their end, with midfield stalwart Bernardo Silva and defender John Stones among those departing the Etihad Stadium after years of service.

Silva and Stones were given emotional send-offs following City’s final Premier League fixture of the season against Aston Villa, and again at the club’s end-of-season parade. Between them, the pair accumulated a remarkable haul of trophies across the last decade and were central figures in the club’s era of domestic and European dominance.

Silva has already confirmed his next destination, signing for Real Madrid — now under the management of José Mourinho — after representing Portugal at the World Cup. Stones, meanwhile, remains focused on England’s tournament campaign in North America before turning his attention to his club future, which is yet to be decided.

Also departing are two homegrown academy players. Ashton Muir, a 20-year-old forward who turns 21 in August, joined City at the age of eight and is capable of playing centrally or out wide. Despite missing the majority of the 2024/25 season through injury, he contributed to City’s Premier League 2 play-off success in 2025.

Ezra Carrington, also 20 and a fellow Manchester native, ends a nine-year association with the club. The full-back endured a difficult spell that included 18 months on the sidelines before returning to fitness towards the end of last season.

The departures mark a significant moment of transition at City, with the club now moving forward under new head coach Enzo Maresca.
