Benched at PSG, Lee Kang-In pushed towards the exit
Arriving in Paris in summer 2023 alongside Luis Enrique, Lee Kang-In has never managed to establish himself as a regular starter at PSG. With 39 appearances across all competitions in 2025-2026 but no key role, the South Korean attacking midfielder is now being encouraged to leave the club.
Lee Kang-In is expected to leave Paris Saint-Germain in the next transfer window. Despite 39 appearances across all competitions in 2025-2026, the South Korean attacking midfielder has never managed to secure a place in Luis Enrique’s starting eleven and his future at the club appears definitively compromised.
Arriving in Paris in summer 2023 alongside the Spanish manager, Lee Kang-In initially benefited from regular playing time. But regular does not mean decisive: confined to a rotation role, PSG’s number 19 never influenced the hierarchy at his position. His only notable achievement remains his goal against Tottenham in the UEFA Super Cup. “For the rest, it’s been downhill throughout the season,” journalist Clément Pernia summed up.
Competition in PSG’s midfield largely explains this situation. Vitinha, João Neves and Désiré Doué occupy the positions coveted by the South Korean with far greater authority, leaving him only scraps of playing time. “He has no added value anymore. I would let him go, he has to leave,” said Paris United’s manager.
The contrast with his status in the national team is striking. When South Korea entered the World Cup against the Czech Republic, Lee Kang-In stood out by providing an assist, confirming he remains a top-tier player in the national shirt. It is precisely this gap between his international performances and his marginalization at club level that makes his Paris situation all the more untenable.
Formed at Valencia before joining the French capital, Lee Kang-In will have spent two underwhelming seasons at Parc des Princes. A departure this summer would allow him to find a sporting project worthy of his ambitions.
