Barcola has not extended at PSG and a summer departure is being considered
According to journalist Philippe Sanfourche, Bradley Barcola is questioning his future at PSG and has not accepted the club's contract extension offer. The 23-year-old winger, regularly used as a substitute, is notably being targeted by Liverpool.
Bradley Barcola has still not signed the contract extension proposed by PSG, and a departure as early as this summer is not ruled out, according to journalist Philippe Sanfourche, who spoke on RTL.
Arriving from Lyon in the summer of 2023 as part of Luis Enrique’s project, the 23-year-old winger occupies a role as a super-sub rather than an undisputed starter. He came off the bench again during the Ligue des Champions final against Arsenal. It is precisely this status that would be fueling his doubts about what comes next.
“PSG really put proposals on the table for a contract extension. It’s true that questions are being asked on Barcola’s side about whether he should push to be a bit more present in the rotation,” Sanfourche said. The journalist goes further by naming the French international as potentially “the biggest departure issue” for the Paris club this summer.
Barcola’s current contract runs until June 2028, which means PSG retains significant negotiating leverage. But the failure to sign the proposed extension testifies to real hesitation on the player’s part.
On the suitors’ side, Liverpool would be in pole position. The English club is seeking a successor to Mohamed Salah and has made Barcola its priority, to the point of having already engaged discussions with his agent, Jorge Mendes. No agreement is said to have been reached at this stage.
