Barbosa rehydrated to 171 pounds after weighing in at 145.5 at UFC Sacramento
The California State Athletic Commission released fight-night weights from UFC Sacramento, revealing Marcio Barbosa gained 25.5 pounds between the scales and the cage — the largest rehydration on a card where several fighters added more than 20 pounds.
Marcio Barbosa tipped the scales at 171 pounds when he walked into the cage at UFC Sacramento, having weighed in at 145.5 pounds the previous day — a rehydration gain of 25.5 pounds, the largest recorded at the event according to figures released by the California State Athletic Commission.
Barbosa’s opponent, Ryan Kuse, gained a comparatively modest 8.7 pounds to reach 153.2 pounds on fight night, leaving a weight gap of nearly 18 pounds between the two featherweights when the first round began. Barbosa finished Kuse by knockout in the first round.
The extreme rehydration was not isolated to the featherweight division. Lightweight Stanley Dorsainvil gained 23.5 pounds to reach 179 pounds, while Gauge Young added 24.7 pounds to weigh 180.2 pounds — both men having made the 155.5-pound lightweight limit at the official weigh-in. Jackson McVey and Wesley Schultz, competing at middleweight, each surpassed 207 pounds on fight night after weighing in at 185 and 186 pounds respectively.
At heavyweight, the numbers moved in the opposite direction. Kennedy Nzechukwu actually lost 2.4 pounds between the weigh-in and fight night, entering the cage at 241.6 pounds after registering 244 at the scales. Serghei Spivak similarly shed weight, dropping from 257 to 254.6 pounds. Their opponent Shamil Gaziev gained 6.4 pounds to reach 267.4 pounds and stopped Nzechukwu in the first round.
