The thirty players in contention for the 2026 Ballon d’Or will be known as of Tuesday, September 8. The list will be revealed progressively throughout the day, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., according to L’Équipe.

Ousmane Dembélé, the defending champion, could be among the contenders for his own succession. The PSG and France striker remains one of the most cited names in predictions, even though the competition is shaping up to be wide open.

September 8 will also mark the revelation of the nominees for the women’s Ballon d’Or — whose defending champion is Spanish player Aitana Bonmati — as well as the candidates for best young player, best goalkeeper, best coach and best club of the year.

The official trophy presentation ceremony is set for October 26 in London.
