Folarin Balogun is on the verge of a Premier League return after Everton and AS Monaco agreed a transfer fee worth approximately $58 million for the United States men’s national team striker, according to a report from The Athletic on Monday.

Everton will pay Monaco a base fee of $52.2 million, with a further $5.8 million available in add-ons. Monaco had originally signed Balogun for $32.5 million, with add-ons taking that deal to $43.4 million in total — meaning the French club stand to make a significant profit on the 25-year-old.

Personal terms between Balogun and Everton are still being finalised, but if an agreement is reached, he will play top-flight English football for the first time since August 2021. Balogun came through Arsenal’s academy and spent three years with the senior squad before moving to France.

The move would cap a remarkable rise for a player who spent four seasons in Ligue 1 building his reputation. His most eye-catching campaign came in 2022-23, when he finished as the fourth-highest scorer in the French top flight — behind only Kylian Mbappé, Alexandre Lacazette and Jonathan David.

That form earned Balogun his first call-up to the USMNT in 2023, and he has since become a fixture in the squad. He has scored 12 goals in 31 appearances for the United States, including three goals at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
