Ueda leaves Feyenoord for Lille, Amoura joins Nice on loan from Wolfsburg

Lille and OGC Nice each officially confirmed an attacking reinforcement on Monday, with the respective arrivals of Ayase Ueda and Mohammed Amoura in Ligue 1.

Ueda, 28, has signed with Lille on a four-year deal for a transfer fee of €15 million from Feyenoord Rotterdam. The Japanese international finished as Eredivisie’s top scorer last season with 25 goals. “I was really seduced by the club, particularly by the style of football played and which I really like, but also by its magnificent stadium and its supporters,” the striker said in a club statement. “My objective is to progress as much as possible and to continue to grow as a player. I want to give everything in this shirt and, through my performances, repay the trust that Lille is placing in me.”

On Nice’s side, it is Mohammed Amoura who arrives, having been linked with Marseille before Nice won the race. The 26-year-old Algerian international arrives on loan with an option to buy from Wolfsburg, the club recently relegated to the German second division. “I know Ligue 1 well and I know OGC Nice well. I have plenty of friends who have played here,” the striker said. “I know that last season was not easy, but I also know that there are always great ambitions. I liked the discourse of the management and the coach.”

The two recruits bring a proven finisher profile to clubs that finished respectively in the upper half of the Ligue 1 standings in the previous season. Ueda, with his 25 goals in Eredivisie, represents one of the most targeted transfers of Lille’s summer transfer window, while Amoura, in loan form, offers Nice an attacking option with lower financial risk.
