Arsenal target Morgan Rogers in £100m move as summer transfer window opens
Arsenal have set their sights on Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers as the summer transfer window officially opens. Villa are reported to be demanding £100 million for the 23-year-old, who scored 14 goals and registered 12 assists last season.
Arsenal have identified Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers as a primary transfer target this summer, with Villa reportedly valuing the England international at £100 million as the transfer window opens.
Rogers enjoyed an outstanding 2024-25 season under Unai Emery, contributing 14 goals and 12 assists across all competitions. The versatile 23-year-old operated both as an attacking midfielder and from the left wing, drawing admiration from across the game and earning a place in England’s World Cup squad, where he is competing with Jude Bellingham for a starting berth.
According to The Athletic, Villa are prepared to demand £100 million for their prized asset. Rogers is said to be open to a move, though he is not actively pushing for an exit and has remained publicly focused on England’s World Cup campaign rather than engaging with transfer speculation.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, speaking after the Champions League final, signalled his intent to move quickly in the market. “We start to make some very important decisions if we want to reach another level,” Arteta said. “And we’re going to have to show that ambition because we are more than capable of doing it, but it’s going to demand to be very, very ambitious, very fast and very smart.”
Former Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has already offered his endorsement of the potential signing. “Morgan Rogers is also fantastic and he has had a really good season,” Monreal said. “He has done well for Aston Villa and he is a top player we are talking about.”
Ex-Gunners midfielder Emmanuel Petit went further, arguing that Rogers would address a specific gap in Arsenal’s attacking play. “We need powerful players. Morgan Rogers is one of them,” Petit said. “He’s got pace, he’s very powerful physically, and he’s good technically, so he will bring qualities that can be missing sometimes up front for Arsenal.”
Arsenal enter the window from a position of considerable strength as reigning Premier League champions, with Arteta keen to build on a season that also saw the club reach the Champions League final. Rogers is one of several targets the club are understood to be pursuing as they look to take the next step in competing at the highest level of European football.
