Arsenal lead Manchester United in £90m race to sign Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers
Arsenal are favourites to sign Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers this summer, with Manchester United also in pursuit. Aston Villa are understood to be demanding a fee in excess of £90 million for the 23-year-old, who has contributed 14 goals and 12 assists across all competitions this season.
Arsenal are the frontrunners to sign Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers this summer, with Manchester United also monitoring the 23-year-old as Villa hold out for a fee exceeding £90 million.
Rogers has been one of Villa’s standout performers over the past two seasons, registering 14 goals and 12 assists across all competitions this campaign. That form has made him one of the most coveted players in the Premier League ahead of the summer transfer window formally opening.
Arsenal are understood to have identified Rogers as a priority target, with football.london reporting he is among the Gunners’ key objectives for the window. The Manchester Evening News reported in early May that Manchester United officials were also weighing up a bid, and overseas reports have since suggested United made direct contact with Villa to explore the possibility of a deal.
United’s pursuit may face an early complication, however. Rogers previously stated publicly that “there is no team bigger” than Manchester United — a declaration that could complicate Arsenal’s efforts to convince the player, while simultaneously signalling his openness to a move to Old Trafford.
Rogers is also expected to play a prominent role in England’s 2026 World Cup campaign following his impressive displays for Villa, a factor likely to intensify competition for his signature as the summer progresses.
Villa’s reported £90 million asking price reflects both Rogers’ age and the trajectory of his development. At 23, he represents a long-term investment for any club willing to meet that valuation, and with two of the Premier League’s biggest sides in the frame, Villa appear well-positioned to command top dollar.
