Arsenal have reportedly entered talks to sign Leicester City winger Jeremy Monga as the club moves quickly to strengthen ahead of next season, with Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers also emerging as a serious target this summer.

Arsenal close in on Jeremy Monga

Monga, 16, made his Premier League debut as a 15-year-old during the 2024/25 season, becoming the second-youngest player to appear in the division at the time — behind only Arsenal’s own Ethan Nwaneri. He made 30 appearances across all competitions for Leicester, accumulating over 1,000 minutes of senior football in a breakthrough campaign.

The promising winger has already signed his first professional contract, which takes effect when he turns 17 in July. However, with Leicester relegated to League One, a departure this summer is widely expected. Arsenal are among several clubs interested, but per the Evening Standard, they have moved to the front of the queue and opened formal talks. A fee of between £10m and £15m has been mooted.

Morgan Rogers open to Arsenal move

Arsenal are also tracking Morgan Rogers, with The Athletic reporting that the 23-year-old Aston Villa midfielder is open to leaving the club this summer and believes the time is right for a new challenge. Rogers has developed into Villa’s most influential player over recent seasons and will be part of their Champions League squad again next term, complicating any potential deal.

Villa are not expected to sell willingly and could demand as much as £100m for the former Manchester City academy product, meaning a transfer is far from straightforward despite Rogers’ reported openness to a move.

The bigger picture at Arsenal

The activity reflects a broader push from Arsenal’s hierarchy following their Champions League final defeat to PSG last weekend. Manager Mikel Arteta stated after that loss that the club must recruit well to defend their Premier League title and mount a stronger European challenge next season.

Sporting director Andrea Berta has already identified priority areas for improvement ahead of the window opening on June 15. Josh Kroenke, son of owner Stan Kroenke, has publicly backed that ambition, and reports suggest the club could be handed a budget exceeding last summer’s record £250m outlay.
