Arsenal explore £34m Tzolis move as Arteta pushes for left-wing reinforcement
Arsenal are reportedly pursuing Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis for around £34m as Mikel Arteta seeks to strengthen his attack following the Champions League final defeat to PSG.
Arsenal are exploring a £34m move for Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis as Mikel Arteta accelerates his summer rebuild following the club’s Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. The Athletic reports that the Gunners are pursuing the 24-year-old Greek international, with the deal considered separate from any potential move for Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.
Tzolis has been in prolific form over the past two seasons, scoring 43 goals for Club Brugge and adding 23 more during a loan spell at Fortuna Düsseldorf in Germany’s second division in 2023-24. He has already signalled his ambitions publicly, telling Belgian outlet Nieuwsblad: “It will have to be a Champions League team from England, Germany, Spain, or Italy. There might be a few more possibilities in the Premier League.”
Arteta is specifically targeting reinforcements on the left side of his attack. Arsenal have also reportedly sounded out Juventus over the availability of Turkish international Kenan Yildiz, only to be told the 20-year-old is not for sale.
Rogers remains firmly on Arsenal’s radar. The 23-year-old England midfielder has impressed for Aston Villa this season and is currently on international duty with the Three Lions. Fees for Rogers or PSG winger Bradley Barcola — another name linked with the Gunners — could approach £80m.
The potential outlay would come on top of a busy previous window in which Arsenal spent approximately £250m, bringing in Viktor Gyökeres, Eberechi Eze, and Noni Madueke to bolster their forward line.
Speaking after the Champions League final defeat, Arteta made clear that significant investment is needed for the club to take the next step. “We will have to start making some very important decisions if we want to reach another level,” he said. “We are going to have to show that ambition because we are more than capable of doing it, but it is going to demand us to be very ambitious, very fast and very smart.”
