Akliouche ruled out through injury, Zidane without seventh player for November
Struck on the calf after two repeated impacts, Maghnes Akliouche will not be available for France's November international break. The PSG midfielder joins a lengthy list of absentees before Zinedine Zidane announces his squad.
Maghnes Akliouche will not be part of the next France squad. The 24-year-old PSG attacking midfielder has withdrawn from November’s international break due to a calf injury, bringing to seven the number of absentees Zinedine Zidane must account for before announcing his squad this Friday at 6 p.m.
The player suffered two violent impacts to the same calf during his recent club outings, forcing him to leave the pitch before the end of his last two matches. While the injury is not considered serious, his pain requires rest and rules him out of both Paris’s trip to face Troyes in Ligue 1 on Saturday evening and the French squad.
Akliouche’s absence compounds an already crowded injury list around the manager. Ousmane Dembélé, Manu Koné, Jules Koundé, William Saliba, Maxence Lacroix and Estéban Lepaul had already withdrawn before this latest setback.
Zidane will therefore have to work around these constraints for the final two matchdays of the Ligue des Nations group stage, which will see France face Italy on November 12 and then Turkey on November 15.
