The 2026 World Cup enters its second group stage day on Monday, June 22, with four matches on the agenda and only three teams officially qualified for the round of 16: Mexico, the United States and Germany.
Groups I and J take centre stage on Monday. Argentina kick off against Austria at 7 p.m., before France face Iraq at 11 p.m. The night will then be animated by Norway-Senegal at 2 a.m. and Jordan-Algeria at 5 a.m.
The day before, in Group G, Egypt took a major step towards qualification by dominating New Zealand (3-1). Belgium, meanwhile, stalled again by drawing with Iran (0-0) and will have to win decisively in their final match to hope to continue their adventure.
In Group H, Spain finally raised their game by thrashing Saudi Arabia (4-0). With 4 points, La Roja look well on their way to the round of 16. Uruguay and Cape Verde, who drew (2-2), are level on 2 points each ahead of the final day.
In the more advanced groups, Canada and Switzerland are tied at the top of Group B with 4 points each, while Brazil and Morocco are doing the same in Group C. The Netherlands and Japan also share the top of Group F with 4 points and an identical goal difference (+4).
The race for the round of 16 promises to be tight in most groups, with many teams still in contention to qualify after the third day.
