Zaïre-Emery without playing time at 2026 World Cup, Barcola promises his moment will come
Absent from all France matches since the start of the 2026 World Cup, Warren Zaïre-Emery is waiting on the sidelines. His PSG teammate Bradley Barcola assures that the midfielder "will have his moment" in this tournament.
Warren Zaïre-Emery has not played a single minute since France entered the 2026 World Cup. On Thursday at a press conference, Bradley Barcola spoke to reassure about the state of mind of the 20-year-old midfielder.
“Warren is calm. He knows he will have a moment where he can help the team,” Barcola said, before adding: “We are fully with him, we support him. He’s taking it well, he’s not sulking.” The Montreuil native finds himself in the same situation as N’Golo Kanté and Lucas Hernandez, also deprived of playing time for now.
Yet Zaïre-Emery comes off a remarkable season with Paris Saint-Germain, where he established himself both as a midfielder and at right-back. This versatility does not seem to weigh on Didier Deschamps’ choices.
In the centre, the manager prefers Aurélien Tchouameni, Adrien Rabiot, Manu Koné and N’Golo Kanté. On the right side of defence, Jules Koundé and Malo Gusto are ahead of him. Zaïre-Emery thus appears as the last option at each position, which makes a substitute appearance difficult to envisage, except in the event of an injury or a tactical change.
