Wang Cong taunts Silva at UFC 332 weigh-ins as security steps in
Wang Cong got in Natalia Silva's face with repeated hip pops during Friday's ceremonial weigh-ins for UFC 332, prompting Silva to shove her arms away and security to intervene ahead of Saturday's vacant women's flyweight title fight in Salt Lake City.
Wang Cong wound up Natalia Silva at the UFC 332 ceremonial weigh-ins in Salt Lake City on Friday, getting so close during their final face-off that security was forced to step between the two fighters. The pair meet on Saturday night for the vacant women’s flyweight title in the main event at Delta Center.
Wearing the Joker makeup that has become her signature, Wang approached Silva with her arms raised in a fighting stance and repeatedly popped her hips directly in her opponent’s face. Silva, visibly irritated, shoved Wang’s arms away before security intervened. Wang continued to taunt her with hip pops even after the separation.
The tension at the weigh-ins was not limited to the main event. The co-main event pairing of Deiveson Figueiredo and Payton Talbott also nearly turned physical when Talbott encroached on the former flyweight champion, prompting Figueiredo to push him back. UFC CEO Dana White stepped in to defuse that confrontation.
Silva enters the bout as one of the most active finishers in the women’s flyweight division, while Wang, fighting out of China, has built her reputation on aggressive, high-pressure performances. The title is vacant, meaning Saturday’s winner will be crowned champion for the first time in the division’s current iteration.
The early prelims for UFC 332 begin at 4:00 p.m. EDT, with the main card starting at 8:00 p.m. ET.
