Vinicius Junior failed to use the international break to rediscover his form. After scoring just one goal in eight matches with Real Madrid, the Brazilian winger hoped to get back on track in two winnable fixtures against Australia and India. It did not happen.

Against Australia, Vinicius did score Brazil’s winning goal (4-2), but from the penalty spot. Against India, despite three shots on target, he made no impact on the scoreline and was withdrawn at half-time by the manager, replaced by Samuel Lino, who scored twice in the second half.

The Spanish press is watching the situation with growing concern. Marca acknowledges Vinicius’s involvement in the game, particularly on his flank, but highlights his inability to be decisive. The Madrid daily also recalls that the Brazilian’s best period this season coincided with Kylian Mbappé’s injury, when he had regained a central role in Real’s attacking setup.

The partnership between the two offensive stars therefore remains the main challenge for José Mourinho, who has yet to find a formula allowing both players to fully express their potential at the same time. In this context, Yan Diomandé could seize the opportunity to earn more playing time if Vinicius’s situation does not improve quickly.
