Gary Neville launches daily football show with Gerrard, Carragher and Schmeichel
Gary Neville is expanding his Overlap media brand with a new weekday YouTube show, The Overlap Daily, featuring a rotating cast of former Premier League stars including Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Peter Schmeichel and Jamie Redknapp.
Gary Neville is broadening his media empire with the launch of The Overlap Daily, a new weekday YouTube programme featuring some of the biggest names from the Premier League era. The show debuts on Friday, 9 October, with Neville joined by Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher and YouTube personality Mark Goldbridge for the opening edition.
The daily format rotates a roster of high-profile co-hosts across the week. Steven Gerrard, who has returned to punditry this season, will front Monday’s programme alongside sports broadcaster Becky Ives. Tuesday’s show features Kelly Cates, Ashley Young and Joe Hart, while Wednesday hands the reins to former Tottenham pair Jamie Redknapp and Tim Sherwood. Duncan Ferguson and ex-Wales goalkeeper Mark Crossley present Thursday’s edition, before Neville, Carragher and Goldbridge close out the week on Friday.
The programme aims to deliver a daily round-up of football news and debate, incorporating supporter questions and a phone-in element alongside analysis from its regular contributors.
The Overlap Daily builds on the considerable success of Neville’s existing podcast, The Overlap, which has accumulated more than 38 million monthly views since its 2021 launch. Past guests have included David Beckham, Tyson Fury and Rory McIlroy.
Neville cited a specific gap in the podcast’s output as the catalyst for the new venture. “There was a moment in the last year where a manager was sacked and we didn’t have a programme for seven days,” he said. “At that point we recognised that we needed to go for it. The quality and profile of our incredible host line-up speaks to our commitment to deliver the best insights and debate on the biggest football stories.”
Simon Pitts, Group CEO of Global and Co-Chair of The Overlap, described the expansion as a natural progression. “The Overlap has created one of the most powerful football brands in the game by putting brilliant talent and genuine fan conversation at the heart of everything it does,” he said. “Overlap Daily takes that ambition to the next level, creating a place for the stories and debates that matter, every day.”
