Verstappen unveils Delftware-inspired helmet for final Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort
Max Verstappen has revealed a special white-and-blue helmet design inspired by traditional Dutch Delftware ceramics for the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix — the last ever running of the race at Zandvoort, scheduled for 21-23 August.
Max Verstappen will wear a Delftware-inspired helmet at the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix on 21-23 August, marking what will be the final edition of the race at Zandvoort before it drops off the Formula 1 calendar in 2027.
The four-time world champion’s special design abandons his standard 2026 livery in favour of a white-and-blue colourway drawn from the ornate floral patterns of traditional Dutch Delftware ceramics. Intricate blue detailing runs around the lower edges of the helmet, standard Red Bull and Oracle branding remains at the front, and Verstappen’s trademark lion logo is woven into the design on top.
Verstappen shared the helmet on social media alongside the message: “For my last home race. Dankjewel Zandvoort” — Dutch for “Thank you, Zandvoort.” The post had gathered more than 305,000 likes at the time of writing. A second post, captioned “An iconic Grand Prix. Unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime. Final home race, a special helmet, a homage to The Netherlands and Zandvoort,” drew a further 76,900 likes.
Fans responded warmly to the reveal. “Piece of art,” one commenter wrote, while another added: “Zandvoort will be really missed.” The official Dutch Grand Prix account replied directly to Verstappen: “Our pleasure Max. It’s an honour to have you in Zandvoort. One final Dutch GP together.”
The race’s removal from the calendar follows a decision by the event promoter not to pursue a longer-term deal after F1 and the promoter agreed to a one-year extension covering 2026.
Verstappen arrives at his final home grand prix sitting sixth in the drivers’ championship with 109 points, 110 points adrift of leader Kimi Antonelli. Red Bull currently occupies fourth place in the constructors’ standings with 177 points.
