Manchester United’s pursuit of Crysencio Summerville has gained fresh momentum after the Netherlands were knocked out of the World Cup by Morocco on penalties in the round of 32, with the West Ham winger among those to miss in the shootout.

The 24-year-old had been one of the tournament’s standout performers, scoring twice and contributing two assists across four appearances after earning his first senior international cap only weeks earlier. His displays in the United States have sharpened interest from several clubs, with United reportedly facing competition from Paris Saint-Germain among others for his signature.

West Ham have maintained they are under no financial pressure to sell despite their relegation to the Championship, and Summerville still has three years remaining on his current contract. The Hammers are believed to value the former Leeds United winger at around £50 million.

United manager Michael Carrick has already moved to strengthen his central midfield this summer, completing an early deal for Brazilian midfielder Ederson, but the left wing remains an area he is keen to address. Matheus Cunha has made the position his own in recent months, though his versatility means he can operate across multiple attacking roles, leaving the door open for further reinforcement.

Summerville is one of several West Ham players linked with a departure following the club’s drop into the second tier. United also hold an interest in his club team-mate Mateus Fernandes.

The situation surrounding Marcus Rashford adds another layer of complexity to United’s planning on the left flank. The England forward impressed during a loan spell at Barcelona, but the Catalan club chose not to activate their purchase option, leaving his long-term future at Old Trafford unresolved.

With the World Cup now behind him, Summerville can turn his full attention to what promises to be a defining summer for his career.
