Yamal scores third goal in three matches and powers Spain in Nations League
Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the 5th minute against Czechia with a stunning curled strike, his third consecutive goal with Spain in the Nations League, following a brace against Croatia and a goal at Wembley against England.
Lamine Yamal struck again. On Saturday in Oviedo, the 17-year-old Barcelona prodigy opened the scoring in the 5th minute against Czechia with a left-footed curled finish that nestled into the far corner past Antonin Kinsky, bringing his tally to three goals in Spain’s last three Nations League matches.
Rodri doubled the lead in the 35th minute, infiltrating the opposition box and confirming Spanish dominance in this international break. Spain had previously secured a prestigious victory at Wembley against England (3-2), where Yamal found the net in the 2nd minute before scoring a brace and providing an assist in the win against Croatia (4-1).
Over his last six matches across all competitions with FC Barcelona and the national team, Yamal has recorded eight goals and six assists—statistics that fuel his candidacy for the Ballon d’Or alongside Kylian Mbappé.
Against Czechia, Luis de la Fuente fielded a 100% Franco-Spanish central defensive pairing with Robin Le Normand and Aymeric Laporte. Dani Olmo and Pedri completed a very Barcelona-heavy midfield, while Robert Fernandez, Espanyol’s striker, earned his first senior cap leading the attack.
