UEFA’s Executive Committee has convened in Thessaloniki, Greece, to determine which stadiums will host the 2028 and 2029 Champions League finals, with Wembley Stadium among the venues in contention.

The Football Association is hoping to bring the continent’s most prestigious club match back to London’s national stadium. Wembley has hosted three Champions League finals to date — in 2011, when Barcelona defeated Manchester United; in 2013, when Bayern Munich beat Borussia Dortmund; and most recently in 2024, when Real Madrid claimed the trophy.

Beyond the Champions League final venues, the UEFA Executive Committee’s agenda in Thessaloniki also covers the host cities for the 2028 and 2029 Europa League finals, along with a range of other significant matters in European and world football.

A decision on all hosting rights is expected to emerge from the meeting.
