Two assists and a jab: Yamal answers Lemina after Galatasaray-Barça
Provoked before the match by Mario Lemina, who claimed not to know him, Lamine Yamal responded on the pitch with two assists in Barça's victory in Istanbul (1-4), before taking a dig at the former Marseille player on Instagram.
Lamine Yamal settled the score his own way on Tuesday night in Istanbul: two assists, player of the match, and a cutting message on Instagram. The 19-year-old Barcelona prodigy was one of the architects of FC Barcelona’s victory on Galatasaray’s pitch (1-4) in the Ligue des Champions.
It all started before kick-off, when Mario Lemina made a rather surprising statement: “Yamal or Sané? Who is Yamal? I know Sané but I don’t know Yamal.” The former Marseille midfielder had clearly underestimated the impact of his words.
On the pitch, the response was immediate. Named player of the match, the Spanish international delivered technical displays and provided two assists within three minutes: first for Fermin Lopez in the 50th minute, then for Anthony Gordon in the 53rd, sealing the Catalan victory.
The punchline came after the final whistle. On Instagram, Yamal posted a montage of photos and videos from his evening in Istanbul, accompanied by a single question, directed straight at Lemina: “Does he know me now?” The answer leaves no room for ambiguity.
