Barcola ends drought with brace for Liverpool against LASK in Champions League
Silent in his first six appearances in a Liverpool shirt, Bradley Barcola scored two goals in the first half against LASK in Linz on Wednesday during the league phase of the Champions League.
Bradley Barcola ended his goal drought by scoring a brace in Liverpool’s victory over LASK in Linz on Wednesday in the second matchday of the Champions League league phase. The former PSG player, starting for the occasion, had until then gone six matches without finding the back of the net in a Liverpool shirt.
Two minutes after Ronald Araujo opened the scoring (22nd), Barcola secured the advantage with a well-timed strike to make it 0-2 (24th). The French international then struck again before the break, slipping between the lines to beat the Austrian goalkeeper and score his team’s third goal (37th).
Arriving from PSG during the summer transfer window, Barcola had so far struggled to make an impact with Liverpool. This trip to Austria to face LASK, the club from the city of Linz, ultimately proved to be the breakthrough the former Olympique Lyonnais player needed.
