Truffert punishes Yoro's error as Bournemouth thrash Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford
Adrien Truffert recorded his first assist of the season by capitalizing on an unfortunate slip by Leny Yoro, his France teammate, as Bournemouth delivered a dominant 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Bournemouth crushed Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday in a clash featuring two French internationals called up by Zinédine Zidane: Adrien Truffert and Leny Yoro.
The Cherries’ left-back recorded his first assist of the season in the most direct fashion. In the 43rd minute, Leny Yoro, deployed as a right-back by Manchester United, slipped while heading toward his own goal line with the ball. Truffert recovered possession immediately and set up Marcus Tavernier, who doubled the lead moments after Rayan had opened the scoring (38th).
Evanilson added a third in the second half (71st) to seal another defeat in a disastrous season for the Red Devils.
Truffert, a former Stade Rennais player, finished the previous campaign with one goal and five assists in a Bournemouth shirt. His performances earned him a starting place under Zidane in the last two France gatherings, against Turkey (1-0 victory in Izmit) and Italy (1-1 at Stade de France).
Yoro, 20, also recently joined the France squad: he played the full match against Belgium (4-1) on October 5 at Saint-Denis in his first appearance with the national team. Sunday’s error remains a minor incident in the trajectory of the Manchester United defender, but it illustrates the collective difficulties of a club struggling to find its footing this season.
