Tottenham target double Man City raid for Savinho and Marmoush in De Zerbi's attacking overhaul
Tottenham are pursuing both Savinho and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City as Roberto De Zerbi seeks to rebuild a forward line at a club that narrowly avoided relegation last season.
Tottenham are targeting two Manchester City attackers — Savinho and Omar Marmoush — as Roberto De Zerbi continues an ambitious and expensive squad overhaul at a club that only narrowly avoided relegation last season.
Savinho has been on Spurs’ radar for some time. The club considered a £50m move for the 22-year-old Brazilian winger last summer, but a deal did not materialise. He has scored seven goals in 84 appearances for City, yet found himself pushed further down the pecking order following the January arrival of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. Savinho did not make the bench for City’s Community Shield defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.
Marmoush, meanwhile, joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59m in January 2025 and has gone on to record 16 goals in 62 appearances. The Egypt international has operated as a striking alternative to Erling Haaland, coming on for the final 37 minutes of the Community Shield, but started only eight Premier League matches last season.
City’s willingness to sell both players would fit a broader summer of significant squad restructuring at the Etihad. The club have already raised around £160m through the sales of Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders, James Trafford and Nathan Ake, with further funds potentially incoming. They are also in talks with Newcastle over a deal for Nico Gonzalez, and are pursuing midfield reinforcements — including Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi and Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez — after breaking their transfer record to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116m.
Tottenham’s own summer spending has been equally aggressive. De Zerbi’s side have broken their transfer record twice, signing midfielder Mateus Fernandes for £85m and Sandro Tonali for a fee rising to £100m. Centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke has arrived from Brighton for £52m, while Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson have joined on free transfers.
To help fund the activity, Spurs have raised around £72m in defensive sales this week. Cristian Romero has joined Atletico Madrid, Djed Spence has moved to Inter Milan, and Ashley Phillips has signed for Middlesbrough. Adding Savinho and Marmoush would represent a further substantial outlay as De Zerbi looks to reshape the club’s attacking options ahead of the new Premier League season.
