Tottenham agree £60m loan-to-buy deal for Man City forward Omar Marmoush

Tottenham have agreed a season-long loan deal with Manchester City for forward Omar Marmoush, with an obligation to buy the Egypt international for £60 million next summer. The 27-year-old will undergo a medical with the north London club before completing the remaining formalities of the move.

The deal marks Spurs’ second capture from City within days, following the arrival of Brazil winger Savio in a deal worth an initial £75m. The £60m buy obligation will allow City to recoup the £59m they paid Eintracht Frankfurt for Marmoush in January 2025.

Marmoush scored 16 goals in 62 appearances for City but largely played understudy to Erling Haaland. He was an unused substitute in Sunday’s Premier League win against Bournemouth, with his last appearance coming in the Community Shield the week prior.

The transfer adds to a summer of significant recruitment at Spurs that has already brought in Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi. The club are looking to reverse consecutive 17th-placed Premier League finishes after suffering a 3-0 opening-day defeat at Brentford on Saturday.

For City, Marmoush’s exit is the latest in a summer of sweeping departures. Rodri, Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Tijjani Reijnders, Nathan Ake and James Trafford have all left the club, with Nico Gonzalez also closing in on a switch to Newcastle before next week’s transfer deadline.

Spurs return to action in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday when they host Championship side Charlton Athletic, before their first home league match of the season against Newcastle on Saturday. That fixture will see Tonali face his former club for the first time since his £100m move to Spurs earlier this summer.
